Seeking volunteers to conduct outreach to the Chinatown community regarding a free service helping to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments
New York Chinatown Community Immunity Initiative, a partnership between WGIRLS Inc. and The COVID Foundation, is seeking volunteers to conduct outreach to the Chinatown community regarding a free service helping to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments for people in need. Anyone willing and able to be on foot for a few hours and talk to people is welcome to sign up. Volunteers with Mandarin, Cantonese, Chinese dialect, and Spanish speaking skills would also be very helpful, but not necessary.
Must be available to table or canvas in the community on Saturday, April 3 from 10:30am-1:30pm and/or 12:30pm-3:30pm.
Volunteer tasks:
- Help staff table and register people in need for free vaccine appointment scheduling.
- Help maintain social distancing and manage lines if they form.
- Canvas/perform outreach in the community in small groups. Hand out/put up flyers, talk to local business owners and community residents about the initiative.
Please note: PPE will be provided and CDC social distancing protocols will be enforced at all times during the event.
