Can you install a jack post?

Old house needs under flooring bracing using a jack post. When you search the world wide web, look for Ellis Manufacturing Company - Light Duty Steel Shores & Jack Post - 19" - 27" Crawl space is about 2' high and you'd be crawling on dirt, not concrete. I need to install a couple of these jack posts if this is something you do. You MUST know what you're doing!! I have not ordered the jack posts yet and would appreciate your input. I'm looking for posts that are permanent, not temporary. Make sure you search for the item I need to buy so you understand what I'm doing. Thx.
