Description
Bikerpelli Sports has openings for event support staff for 2 trips in the spring season, approx 2 weeks in duration total. We operate 2 large multi-day cycling events on the Kokopelli Trail in Colorado & Utah, see www.Bikerpelli.com for details. Trip staff are in charge of all support functions necessary to keep groups of 100 healthy & happy in the backcountry. Support functions include general trip logistics from moving trucks, gear & riders around, base camp support, cooking to personal attn with simple first aid & bike repair. Applicants need general experience working with groups and should have a high level of comfort working in the backcountry. This is not a guiding position -- we do not guide our trips, we only support the riders along the way. Still, preference is given to individuals with strong group management & trip-leading skills who work well in a team environment. Trip dates run from April 26 to May 9 and you MUST be available for the full duration. There are a total of 12 working days across those dates and about 2.5 days off in the middle. Transportation to & from is included from Boulder. Expenses during the events themselves are covered. There are two days off between trips where we’ll have a basecamp in Fruita, CO with access to plenty of downtime fun. We have one opening for the 2021 Kokopelli Trail trips: -- Line Cook Part of a 3 person team led by our head chef in charge of creating breakfasts & dinners on site in the backcountry. Basically a commercial kitchen setup in the field with no running water or electricity, we'll be cooking for groups of 100 per meal. Commercial cooking experience is mandatory. The ideal candidate has both a commercial cooking background AND experience working in backcountry environments. An extensive personal backcountry adventure resume is a nice bonus. The point being, you need to be comfortable enough in the backcountry that taking care of yourself & dealing with harsh conditions is second nature, leaving you free to focus on the job at hand - this isn't a learning environment for interns, it's where we put all our skills to the test and produce results we're proud of. When not working the kitchen, you'll be pitching in as a team member on a staff of 10 for 'all hands on deck' tasks as they come up. Other valuable skills include -- -- Logistics coordinating -- Cycling & touring exp -- People skills, assertive communications & general outdoor living abilities -- Experience driving large vans & box trucks on crazy backcountry roads Days can be long & weather can be tough sometimes, you need to be capable of operating in circumstances when clients huddle scared in tents. Usually the weather's pretty perfect. Pay scale starts at $125 per diem (+ tips) and increases with each successive trip. Tips usually avg $70-120 per day for a total of $200+ per day to start. New staff will typically walk with around $17-1800 not including any addt'l paid hours of prep & breakdown before or after. It's a lot of money to make in a short time and we definitely earn it. Be prepared to work hard for a very fun & intense set of trips! The work day is dawn to dusk - mornings & evenings are quite busy while midday is fairly relaxed. It's not uncommon to find some downtime in there as well but depends on the situation of course. Benefits include fun environment, great staff, all you can eat, beautiful days in the backcountry and sleeping under the stars. What we do is challenging even for the sharpest staff, you can expect to emerge from the experience with a whole new set of marketable large-group management skills. Please contact via email to: Info (at) Bikerpelli (dot) com with relevant info, availability & resume. Please no phone calls, there are more of you than us! We'll respond to you shortly.
