Description
SALEM, MA — Salem is bringing back summer performance art for 2021 as it seeks applications for paid performances at Charlotte Forten Park and Derby Square. The Salem Public Art Commission is looking for theatrical performances, immersive theater experiences, dance performances and performance art exhibitions for the upcoming season. Performances will be responsible for planning, implementing and scheduling performances in collaboration with the city's senior planner for arts & culture and the artisans on Artisans' Row. Original work is welcomed and the performer is responsible for all rights and royalties for copywritten work. North Shore productions will be prioritized. Performances must include at least two public rehearsals and four free performances. Performers will be responsible for marketing in consultation with the city. Performances will adhere to all public health coronavirus protocols at the time, including masks, social distancing and gathering limits. Performances will be scheduled for late August or early September with the selected group receiving a $5,000 stipend — with half paid up front and half paid at the conclusion of the events. Applications are due at noon on April 16 with notification of the final selection of performers on May 1. To apply, send a description of the proposed performance, resume and organization information, contact list, rehearsal plan, proposed performance schedule, tech rider of needs and requests and examples of past work in MOV files to Senior Planner for Arts & Culture Julie Barry at 978-619-5685.
