Actively seeking a Construction Manager/Inspector to work as a part of our team as we prepare to construct public infrastructure located in southwest Washington. The right candidate will become part of the team and provide full-time onsite construction observation and management while coordinating with our engineering team, client, regulatory agencies and contractor to safeguard the successful completion of a construction project in conformance with approved design documents and regulatory requirements. This position is currently a limited term position (8-12 months), but it has the potential to be converted into a permanent position for the right person. Salary negotiable and depends on experience. WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE? Essential requirements for this job include: • Daily personal interactions with clients, designers, owners, contractors, inspectors, and authorities having jurisdiction on the project. • Meet regularly with principal and staff to discuss and resolve project matters. • Coordinate and manage all sub-consultants. • Observe, monitor and document the work of the contractor according to established CM procedures, this includes management of all project correspondence (incoming and outgoing), including but not limited to oral and written communications, RFIs, Memos to Designer, Field Directives, Clarification Letters, submittals, change orders, and progress payments. • Develop and distribute timely meeting agendas and minutes. • Develop project reports as defined by the scope of work. • Perform on-site construction inspections to verify conformance with contract plans, specifications, and documents. • Produce daily inspection reports as well as other reports documenting the progress of construction. • Recommend progress payments and change orders. • Communicate information and requirements with contractors, representatives of utilities and other governmental agencies related to the coordination of inspection and construction activities to resolve discrepancies and facilitate coordination of activities for timely project completion. • Make and validate mathematical and basic survey calculations related to grades and distances. • Interpret and compute field inspection data, evaluating for accuracy and completeness. • Prepare and maintain a variety of reports, records, and files related to the assigned area of responsibility. • Interpret and apply various federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations related to construction and inspection activities for projects. • Cultivate strong relations with clients, including frequent communication of construction and contract related issues. • Attend public meetings and represent owners at public meetings, as necessary. Required experience and desired skills • Minimum 2 years of construction management or project management experience. • Working understanding of Microsoft office suite, • Knowledge of standard construction methods, tools, equipment, and instruments used in site construction and the construction and installation of water and sewer piping. • Ability to communicate effectively via verbal and written communication. • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and oversight. • Ability to detect flaws in construction materials and calculate measured pay quantities. • Working knowledge of standard specifications for Public Works construction. • Experience working with local agencies and municipalities a plus.
