Description
HARLEM, NY — Well over 1,000 people were without power Thursday morning due to an outage in southern Harlem, according to Con Edison.
Crews responded around 7:18 a.m. to reports of two smoking manholes in the area — an issue that stemmed from an electrical cable failure, according to a Con Edison spokesperson.
As of 10:30 a.m., about 1,135 customers were without power — likely equivalent to many more individual people.
The outage area was bounded by West 112th Street to the north, 110th Street to the south, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard to the east and Frederick Douglass Boulevard to the west.
Crews were at the scene Thursday morning and expected to restore service by 6 p.m.
