Library Zoom Will Feature Performer Channeling Hollywood Legend

BEL AIR, MD —The Harford County Public Library (HCPL) will host a virtual performance on April 22 featuring entertainer Martina Mathisen playing legendary Hollywood costume designer Edith Head. The hour-long event will start at 7 p.m. and take place just three days before the 93rd Academy Awards, scheduled for April 25. Mathisen, whose website said she has played the likes of Mae West, Marie Antoinette and Cleopatra, will perform as the costume designer who won a record eight Academy Awards for Best Costume Design between 1949 and 1973. According to a release promoting the performance, Head worked with stars like Ginger Rogers, Bette Davis, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor, though the costume designer was detested by some in the industry. Registration for the free virtual event can be done online. Registrants will receive a confirmation email from Zoom containing a link and unique password.
