New Online Registration System Launched In Baltimore County

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A new online registration system has been launched to support Baltimore County services, starting with ongoing senior food distribution and virtual career center services. Additional online registration portals across county departments will be rolled out in the coming weeks and months. "This crisis has upended life in countless ways and it requires our county to find creative solutions to the challenges we face," Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said in a news release. "We hope this new online reservation system will allow for greater convenience for our residents to take full advantage of the resources their government has to offer." Through this online platform, residents are now able to sign up online for the following services: Senior Food Distribution Appointments Since May 2020, the Baltimore County Department of Aging has provided boxes of food to adults age 60 and older to help address food insecurity and provide seniors with chronic health conditions with the option to limit trips outside. Food kits include a well-balanced collection of fruits, vegetables, dairy, eggs a frozen chicken and nonperishable food to help meet the weekly nutritional needs of older adults. Since last May, the department of aging has offered almost one million meals to older adults. The county will continue to distribute food to older adults by appointment only. Appointments will open each Monday at 8:30 a.m. for appointments the following week. "We want to give our county's older adults as many options as possible to take advantage of this program that helps keep people fed and safe, and we're very pleased to be able to streamline the registration process for those that have ability to do so," Baltimore County Department of Aging Director Laura D. Riley said. "This is another great step forward in putting more of our offerings online and will be another important tool in our toolbox to help expand access to access this critical service." To register online, residents will need to provide a phone number, which becomes their unique account ID, and an email address. Individuals will then receive a confirmation of their appointment via email or by text message. Residents can sign-up at baltimorecountymd.gov/aging-food-distribution. In addition to signing up using the online portal, residents 60 years and older can call 410-887-2040 to schedule their pick-up date, time and location. Career Center Appointments The Baltimore County Department of Economic and Workforce Development currently offers residents who need assistance finding a job access to a number of tools, resources and services, including career planning, job search assistance, occupational skills training, skills enhancement training, access to labor market information, GED and literacy programs and career development workshops. Residents can now use the online appointment registry portal to schedule appointments for self-service in-person resources, including computer resource labs, office technology, individual work spaces and other services at the county's Hunt Valley and Liberty Career Centers. These in-person resources are available by appointment only to ensure appropriate physical distancing and implementation of other COVID-19 safety guidelines. Residents can sign-up at baltimorecountymd.gov/career-centers. "As we continue to see the ongoing impact and long-term shifts in our economy due to the pandemic, we remain committed to supporting Baltimore County's job seekers," said Baltimore County Department of Economic and Workforce Development Director Leonard Howie.
