HYATTSVILLE, MD — Police said a Hyattsville woman stole $20,000 with an altered cashier's check. Court documents indicated the crime happened on Oct. 23, 2020. After getting a warrant on Dec. 24, 2020, officers reported that they arrested the suspect, 21-year-old Susan Olivia Percival, on March 18.
The write-up accused Percival of having an unnamed person deposit the altered $20,000 check into her bank account. Police alleged that Percival later withdrew that money from her account, essentially stealing unofficial cash from the bank.
Deputies noted that their investigation led them to a home in the 3500 block of Longfellow Street in Hyattsville on the day of Percival's arrest. Officers added that they knocked on the door and that somebody let them into the residence where they found the suspect. Police explained that they served the warrant and took Percival to the Prince George's County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro.
