How many Republicans are sending back stimulus and bailout funds? CBS News poll released Thursday morning showed 75% of Americans approve of Congress passing the Covid-19 stimulus bill -- a number that includes 77% of independents and almost half (46%) of self-identified Republicans. And that data echoes a new Pew poll that shows 70% of Americans support the stimulus bill while just 28% oppose it. In that survey, more than 4 in 10 Republicans (41%) approve of the legislation. Republican controlled States. Republicans advocate supply-side economics that primarily benefits businesses and investors. Democrats gear their economic policies to benefit low-income and middle-income families. They argue that reducing income inequality is the best way to foster economic growth. Low-income families are more likely to spend any extra money on necessities instead of saving or investing it. That directly increases demand and spurs economic growth. Democrats also support a Keynesian economic theory, which says that the government should spend its way out of a recession. Many analyses look at which party is best for the economy. A study from the National Bureau of Economic Research found that Democratic presidents since World War II have performed much better than Republicans. On average, Democratic presidents grew the economy 4.4% each year versus 2.5% for Republicans. "People vote with their feet." ( philosopher E.H.) That is why Republican States have far less populations than Democratic States. That is why Republicans have far fewer members than Democrats. This is why Republican employers are having a hard time getting and keeping employees. That is why Republicans have in the last five decades been obsessed with gerrymandering. Democrats have been elected by the majority of Americans consistently after Republicans to clean up their messes.
