A Year of Fighting COVID-19
On March 18, 2020 the City Manager/Director of Emergency Services, Marlene Best, issued a Proclamation of Disaster and activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at a Level III. Since that time the Emergency Operations Team is still act at it lowest level. And on March 19, California became the first state in the country to issue a stay-at-home order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The months since have been filled with challenges, fear and grief, innovation and historic breakthroughs. Here is a look back at how the City of Santee and San Diego fought back.
The Mission of the City of Santee's Emergency Operations Center is to support and protect the community and our employees by synchronizing communications, leveraging resources, focusing an integrated response and managing the disaster recovery transition through a coordinated operation with the County of San Diego and other regional agencies.
EOC Activation Objectives: 1. Maintain measures to prevent exposure to and spread of COVID-19. 2. Communicate pertinent information to the public and employees. 3. Adhere to safety measures outlines in the ICS-208: Safety/Message Plan. 4. Implement citywide continuity of operations related to COVID-19. 5. Address the needs of the Access and Functional Needs population. 6. Use Santee's Response & recovery Plan: SNT – COVID-19 as a roadmap for mitigation.
