SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF/BCN) — With tourists returning to San Francisco and COVID-19 restrictions easing, tugs towed the historic Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien back its mooring on Fisherman's Wharf Tuesday, 10 months after the devastating 4-alarm Pier 45 fire.
San Francisco Fire Department boats, which helped save the ship during the May fire, sent sprays of water into the air to commemorate the return.
"The O'Brien's return is a major milestone for us as Fisherman's Wharf continues to reopen," the Port of San Francisco said on its Twitter account.
