MOKENA, IL — The Mokena Village Board approved collective bargaining agreements with Local 150 operating engineers, Metropolitan Alliance of Police, unit 732; as well as approving a salary increase for non-represented village employees.
With the collective bargaining agreement with Local 150 Operating Engineers, the Village Board approved a 2-year extension to the existing agreement. The contract provides a 2.25 percent increase in wages annually, board documents state.
The wage increase for the first year is retroactive to July 1, 2020.
Local 150 Operating Engineers represents rank-and-file Public Works employees for the Village.
The board also approved a similar agreement with Metropolitan Alliance of Police, unit 732, for its police officers below the rank of sergeant.
According to board documents, that agreement is also for 2 years and provides a 2.25 increase annually as well. Again, the wage increase for the first year is retroactive to July 1, 2020.
Lastly, the board adopted a resolution to adjust the salaries of non-represented village employees. The salary increase would once again be 2.25 percent, and would be retroactive to July 1, 2020.
"I believe these agreements balance managing the village's finances, particularly with the pandemic here over the past year...and also treating our employees fairly," Village Administrator John Tomasoski said.
