LEMONT, IL — The Lemont Police Department will be getting an upgrade to its audiovisual system, after the Lemont Village Board approved a contract with AVDG at its Monday board meeting. The audio-visual system is in the department's training room, Chief Marc Maton said. "The training room is utilized for departmental trainings and trainings by outside training groups, and by multiple community groups for meetings," Maton said. The system was installed in 2009 when the police department building opened. Maton said many parts of the system are non-functioning or need to be replaced. The proposed system includes a projector, audio interface, a lavalier microphone system, a lectern with control panel and mulitple inputs, a new amplifier, and integrated monitors, Maton said. The Village received three bids for the upgrade. One of the proposals was non-responsive, and didn't include all the requested items. The lowest bid of the two other proposals was AVDG. "It is a well-used facility," Mayor John Egofske said. The training room also serves as the Emergency Operations Command Post for the village in crisis and emergency situations. The upgrade cost will come from the capital budget, and the contract will not exceed $30,000.
