BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — Firefighters in Bristol rescued one woman from a roof and a man jumped from a second-story balcony during an overnight blaze that investigators say was set intentionally.
Firefighters were called to the 800 block of Main Avenue in Bristol Township at 12:54 a.m. Thursday. There, they discovered a fire at a house that has been divided into three separate units.
A woman had climbed out of a second-floor window onto the roof and was brought down on a ladder by firefighters from Croydon Fire Company, said Bristol Township Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito.
A man trapped by the fire jumped from a second-floor balcony, Dippolito said. He was treated by paramedics from Bucks County Rescue Squad and taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was treated for smoke inhalation and injuries from the fall.
Dippolito said that he ruled the fire an arson and Bristol Township Police detectives have taken over the investigation. There were no working smoke detectors in any of the three units, he said.
