DEERFIELD, IL — Like every other municipality in Illinois, the Village of Deerfield has been dealing with its own unique data points regarding the coronavirus. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, 1,795 people have contracted COVID-19 in Deerfield since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 16 cases since Patch's last report on March 19. For further comparison, there was an increase of 15 cases between March 12-19 and 30 cases between March 5-12. The Lake County Health Department reports there have been 56,158 confirmed cases in Lake County. That's an increase of 443 cases since March 19. For further comparison, there was an increase of 456 cases between March 12-19. In addition, there have been 947 deaths, marking an increase of two since March 19. For further comparison, there was an increase of three deaths between March 12-19. The Lake County recovery rate from the coronavirus is currently 98.2 percent. Recovered cases are defined as persons with initial positive specimen collection date greater than 42 days who have not expired. The Recovery rate is calculated as the recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and total deceased cases. Coroner Questions Illinois' COVID-19 Death Tally, Seeks Statewide Audit The IDPH reported 2,793 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 20 additional deaths, on Wednesday. Currently, the IDPH is reporting a total of 1,227,708 cases, including 21,136 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 79,381 specimens for a total of 19,805,516. As of last night, 1,261 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 269 patients were in the ICU and 130 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from March 17-23, 2021 is 2.8 percent. In addition, approximately 414,900 doses total have been allocated to the federal government's Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities. This brings the total Illinois doses to 6,268,815. A total of 5,036,364 vaccines have been administered in Illinois as of last midnight, including 363,711 for long-term care facilities. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 97,680 doses. Yesterday, 107,219 doses were reported administered in Illinois. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports 55,684 people have been tested across Deerfield (zip codes 60015) as of Friday. That marks an increase of 6,455 tests since March 19. For further comparison, there was an increase of 3,027 tests between March 12-19. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 30 people have died due to COVID-19 in the Cook County portion of Deerfield since April 6. The latest death was on Feb. 20. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,033 confirmed coronavirus cases and 534 deaths in long-term care facilities in Lake County. That marks an increase of 29 cases and 13 deaths since our last report on March 19. In the past, the IDPH has temporarily removed some cases and deaths on three occasions since Patch has been tracking these numbers, before including them back in at a later date.
