Hi there! Our 6 year old son needs an adult reclining wheelchair that lays flat, which we’ve purchased. (Can you believe they don’t make pediatric ones??) However, you cannot push the wheelchair in the flat position as the handles are on the back of the seat. We’re wanting to add umbrella style “handles”, “arms” whatever you want to call them, to the wheelchair so that when he is eating or sleeping (he has to lay on his side) we can still push him. We have an umbrella stroller to remove the arms from with an impact driver. (Haven’t done yet...) What is the best way to attach these arms to the wheelchair? We’ve considered drilling holes in both the arms and the frame but the frame seems pretty solid. I also bought a saddle coupling to try out with a 3 way pipe fitting to see if that way will work. Any other ideas? We’d rather weld them or a coupling on to the frame but we’d have no idea how to go about doing that. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much!!
PS Please text or email first as my son sleeps weird hours. Thanks.
