CLEVELAND — A flight from Cleveland to Los Angeles had to be diverted after a passenger attempted to open an airplane exit door mid-flight, Fox 8 reported.
The plane left Cleveland Hopkins Airport on Wednesday evening and was bound for Los Angeles. Mid-flight, a passenger stood up and attempted to open one of the plane's exit doors, according to Spirit Airlines.
The door could not be opened from the inside because cabin pressure during a flight pins the door against the frame with more force than a human can overcome, Fox 8 reported.
The flight was diverted to Denver after the passenger's outburst and law enforcement took the passenger into custody, Spirit Airlines said in a statement.
The passenger has not been identified.
