Chattanooga Fab Institute is a 3-day digital fabrication experience where educators engage in school-based Fab Labs for hands-on learning. The Public Education Foundation and  Hamilton County Schools are hosting the third annual 2021 Chattanooga FAB Institute June 28 - 30 in Chattanooga, TN, in partnership with Volkswagen Group of America. This unique professional development is designed to give K-12 educators one-of-a-kind experiences as they engage in hands-on learning with digital fabrication tools in our advanced makerspaces, Volkswagen and HCS eLabs! The 3-day digital fabrication PD offers participants an opportunity to engage in authentic experiences with 3D printing, laser engraving/cutting, vinyl cutting, CNC routing, micro-computing, and much more! Each morning, guest speakers will keynote and kick off the day. Then, participants will be shuttled to a nearby school where Volkswagen eLab Specialists (the full-time specialized teachers in these Fab Labs) will facilitate day-long learning activities as they unpack not only the basics of how to use the technology, but also the nuances that are critical to delivering effective maker-enhanced learning experiences for students.  New in 2021, participants will be able to select from beginner and advanced tracks in order to make the experience more impactful for everyone. Even better? We have extended lab hours to be open throughout the evening on Monday and Tuesday so our ambitious makers can stay late and keep creating!
