Description
I am looking for bodybuilders/powerbuilders/weightlifters at ALL levels - hobbyist, amateur, professional - to participate in a short questionnaire that will be used anonymously as research for a script. It should only take about 20 minutes and I am willing to pay $25 for your time. I am a LA-based MFA student working on an art project around strength training, specifically during covid times.
Please e-mail me with your name, photo, age, gender, location, and level of experience. I do not intend to use your photo in my project, I just want to verify that you are who you are! I will notify you if you are chosen and will set up a zoom session with you. I am excited to hear about your experience and routine.
These are some of the questions I will be asking you:
1. When did you start strength training? What do you specialize in (i.e. bodybuilding, powerbuilding, weightlifting)?
2. Describe your routine:
- How many hours a week do you train?
- Where do you work out (home, gym)?
- What does your workout routine consist of? Tell me your warm up, reps, sets, exercises. What kind of weights and/or training machines do you incorporate?
- Do you have a coach? If so, describe how they support you.
- Have you found a community and/or friend group through your training? Is this a priority for you in this lifestyle?
- What are your favorite songs to workout to? Please list your top five.
- Tell me about your diet + nutrition - what does a day of eating look like for you?
- How does strength training make you feel? This could refer to states of euphoria, routine, endorphins, confidence, etc.
- What is your goal? (i.e. self-care/wellness, competition, figure/physique)
- Do you consider training self-care? If not, what activities do you do for self-care?
- How has your relationship to strength training changed over the course of the pandemic?
