TPD Officer Injured As Pursuit Ends In Multi-Vehicle Crash

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa Police have one suspect in custody and are seeking a second following a high-speed chase that ended in a crash involving at least three vehicles on McFarland Boulevard Wednesday night. A TPD officer was also injured in the crash and is being treated at DCH Regional Medical Center. TPD says the chase started around 8:25 p.m. at 15th Street and 10th Avenue to James Harrison Parkway, near Broadmoore to Academy Sports, then on to 41st Street and through nearby neighborhoods before back to the area of Midtown Village and University Mall. According to officers, the driver reached speeds up to 100 mph during the chase. It is unclear at this time if the crash resulted in any injuries. Once near the retail centers, the chase ended in a wreck on McFarland Boulevard with at least three vehicles involved, one of which was overturned. TPD then said McFarland Boulevard southbound lanes will be shut down for the time being as a search is conducted for the second suspect. This is a developing story.
