To apply click on this link: (or enter the url into your browser) The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is currently hiring a regular full-time Logistics Supervisor to perform a variety of tasks involved in oversight and supervision of the Food Bank’s warehouse fleet and drivers. This individual operates trucks, vans and forklifts utilized in the distribution of food products and supplies; and performs other duties as assigned. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Operations, the Logistics Supervisor's primary responsibilities and duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this position. Responsible for the daily operations of main warehouse fleet and ensure all deliveries and pick-ups are effectively and efficiently scheduled. Develop staff, provide timely feedback and ensure adequate cross-training and backup for all positions within warehouse operations. Assist in the development and execution of internal controls and departmental metrics showing productivity, efficiency, loss measures, and accuracy. Assist in the product flow through the warehouse from receiving to shipping/delivery; oversee warehouse staff; assign priorities and tasks to warehouse staff and ensure integrity of all products while stored in the SDFB warehouse. Work with Warehouse & Logistics Manager, to provide monthly support to count inventory. Identify and implement opportunities for improvement within the Transportation department; coordinate receipt and necessary data collection of all products; comply with federal, state and local warehousing and shipping requirements; ensure complete compliance with all regulatory agencies. Safeguard logistic & warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring safety and security procedures; maintain cost effective shipping/delivery methods and continuously strive to improve freight costs and efficiencies Effectively manage the maintenance and repair of warehouse and delivery vehicles and power industrial trucks, such as forklifts and electric pallet jacks. Ensure the SDFB’s safety program and goals are implemented and carried out in the department, as set forth by Risk Management Supervisor and Director of Operations. Ensure that all forklift operators follow specific regulations to prevent accidents. This involves inspecting the forklift daily for any repair or maintenance needs. Liaise and negotiate with freight carriers and customers Arrange warehouse, catalog goods, plan routes and process shipments Maintain transportation metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements Other duties as assigned POSITION REQUIREMENTS A qualified candidate has: A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is: graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in business, supply chain management or a closely related field; and at least five years of progressively responsible management experience in the food service industry as well as warehouse operations/inventory management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Valid California Class B or Class A Driver's License Bi-Lingual, a plus Forklift Certified, Certified Forklift Trainer, preferred Knowledge of Plan, organize and assist in directing the logistics operations of a complex department Understand, interpret, explain and apply SDFB policies and procedures. Operate a computer utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and standard office equipment. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Develop and implement appropriate goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards and management controls. Prepare clear, concise and comprehensive correspondence, reports, studies and other written materials. Exercise sound, expert independent judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, stakeholders, employees, vendors, suppliers and others encountered in the course of the work. Exercise tact, objectivity, sensitivity, strategy, and sound judgment in dealing with people. Analyze complex warehouse and inventory management operational and administrative problems; evaluate alternatives and recommend or implement effective course of action. Train employees in work processes and procedures. Organize, set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment. Customer Service / Relations Ability to Ability to lead and motivate a team. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information regarding the company, products, and employee information. IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills; along with having a solid background in logistics, warehouse management and leading and managing a staff. COMPENSATION This is a full-time, hourly position and compensation is based on experience.
