To apply click on this link: (or enter the url into your browser) The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is currently hiring a regular full-time Warehouse & Logistics Manager to perform a variety of tasks involved in oversight and supervision of the Food Bank’s operations including, fleet management, managing inventory stock levels, cycle counting, state reporting and receiving/distribution. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Operations, the Warehouse & Logistics Manager's primary responsibilities and duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this position. Review checks for accuracy and enters all incoming receipts of product received at the SDFB Manage the maintenance of item cards for all inventories of products and regularly checks inventory levels to maintain a perpetual inventory of stored goods. Perform other inventory control duties, including transfers, counting, scrap reporting and verification of inventory balances for stocked items, reconciling receipts, issues and balances on hand. Prepare a variety of special and recurring studies and reports; develop recommendations to improve the warehousing, storage, inventory control, issuance and delivery of food supplies. The individual will coordinate section activities with other sections, departments, and agencies; confer with and advise program staff regarding warehousing and distribution-related needs and requirements; ensure compliance of unit work to pertinent codes, regulations and guidelines. Utilize, update and maintain computer applications applicable to inventory management; and principles of effective management and supervision. The individual will direct the day-to-day activities of the warehouse, including: shipping, receiving, sanitation, maintenance, inventory control, etc. Work with the Inventory Control Specialist to solve issues related to out-of-stocks, receiving errors, selection errors, and warehouse slotting of products. Generate warehouse productivity reports, such as selection rates, receiving rates, and accounts for all labor hours, both direct and indirect. This involves adhering to budget requirements and working toward obtaining objectives and division goals. Develop and manage processes to assure accuracy of inventory Ensure inventory discrepancies are investigated and corrected in a timely manner Supervise employee schedules, work-loads and productivity and ensure that all receiving and inventory is completed in a timely and accurate manner. Monitor, evaluate and optimize internal inventory/stock levels. Continual improvement of material flow to implement Lean concepts of inventory management. Other duties as assigned POSITION REQUIREMENTS A qualified candidate has: A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is: graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in business, supply chain management or a closely related field; and at least five years of progressively responsible management experience in the food service industry as well as warehouse operations/inventory management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Valid California Driver's License Bi-Lingual, a plus Forklift Certified, Certified Forklift Trainer, preferred Knowledge of Federal, state, and local laws and regulations and program-related/contract guidelines within areas of responsibility. Principles and practices of sound business communications. Principles and practices of effective management, supervision, and personnel, equal opportunity and employee relations. Methods, practices, techniques and equipment used in operating a large, centralized warehouse and food distribution facility. Types of products, commodities, equipment and services used by a large food service operation. Program needs and sound, progressive approaches and practices for program service delivery, as applicable to areas of assigned responsibility. Principles and practices of budget preparation and administration. Recordkeeping practices and procedures related to a purchasing, warehousing and inventory management function. Office administration and operations management practices and procedures. Safety regulations, safe work practices and safety equipment related to the position. Computer applications applicable to inventory management; and principles of effective management and supervision, such as MS Office and Primarius Inventory Tracking System SDFB administrative regulations and human resources policies. Lean / Process Improvement Inventory Management Customer Service / Customer Relations Ability to Understand and follow written and oral instructions. Use effective listening skills. Plan, organize and assist in directing the operations of a complex department Understand, interpret, explain and apply SDFB policies and procedures. Operate a computer utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and standard office equipment. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Develop and implement appropriate goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards and management controls. Prepare clear, concise and comprehensive correspondence, reports, studies and other written materials. Exercise sound, expert independent judgment and initiative within general policy guidelines. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management, stakeholders, employees, vendors, suppliers and others encountered in the course of the work. Exercise tact, objectivity, sensitivity, strategy, and sound judgment in dealing with people. Analyze complex warehouse and inventory management operational and administrative problems; evaluate alternatives and recommend or implement effective course of action. Train employees in work processes and procedures. Motivate, Develop and Engage Employees Organize, set priorities and exercise sound independent judgment. IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will have a keen awareness of organizational policies and excellent supervisory and communication skills. Will display diplomacy to deal with all levels of management and personnel. COMPENSATION This is a full-time, hourly position and compensation is based on experience.
