Here for summer. Home for life. Each and every summer, the magic happens for over 1,200 campers. Camp Chi’s 600 acres become a place where the shy walk away from their shadows. The cool learn to be warm. The uncertain seize adventure. And strangers become lifelong friends. The Seasonal Maintenance Staff work closely with the Property Manager to ensure the upkeep and function of Camp Chi/Perlstein Retreat Center’s various facilities and equipment. The Seasonal Maintenance Staff will complete projects at the direction of the Property Manager to keep camp running smoothly and improving the safety, function, and cleanliness of the facilities. Key Job Duties: • Provide hands-on work to accomplish tasks related to maintain a multitude of structures including minor carpentry and painting and outside grounds on over 600 acres. • Maintain grounds, including garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, trim bushes and trees, collecting trash etc. • Thoroughly clean all machinery used before returning it back to the garage. • Clean breakout rooms, hallways, bathrooms, and offices areas. • Provide support for camp activities (ie: cut and deliver firewood for evening campfires, transport grills to and from cookout locations). • Ensure timely and accurate program and general facility set-ups / breakdowns. o Set up and tear down of chairs, tables, cots or bunks and equipment in meeting rooms, dining hall, pavilion, function rooms and guest rooms. o Set up of facilities in preparation of scheduled guest activities including bonfires, gymnasium, hayrides, swimming pools, etc. • Provide weekend coverage of Camp Chi/Perlstein program support, coverage for emergency call outs, site rounds as needed. • Update supervisor on parts and materials needed to complete assigned tasks. • Know and follow safety rules and procedures while performing all assigned tasks. • Perform work according to standard procedure and by camp's operational schedule. • Report to Property Manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress. Days/Hours: April 1 or May 1– September 30, 2021, 5-6 days / week, 6.25-7.5 hrs / day with some extended hours and weekend work as needed; overtime is expected during summer camp. Requirements: • High School diploma or equivalent required. • Abide to COVID-19 protocols as instructed by Camp Director and supervisor (face mask, temperature check etc.). • Demonstrated experience, janitorial and housekeeping skills. • Previous experience using hand and power tools. • Floor scrubbing/buffing equipment, carpet cleaners/shampooing equipment knowledge preferred. • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work independently yet function as part of a team. • Ability to operate truck, trailer, riding lawnmowers and chain saws. • Ability to climb up ladders up to 20 feet height. • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and carry heavy and/or large equipment such as: sump pumps, furniture, 10ft.tables, benches, and packages for delivery. • Must be willing to work flexible hours; must be able to work extended hours, including six days straight during eight weeks of summer camp. • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license for at least 24 months, a driving record that meets agency requirements, and proof of auto insurance (with a minimum $250,000 liability).
