Looking for Singer/instrumentalist and guitar or keys
Meets
Thousand Oaks CA
Description
Experienced drummer and bassist team with dual backing vocals looking for a male singer who plays guitar or keys and possibly another guitarist. Us: Having played in many bands over the years, we're putting together our own project that is not limited to decades or genre or expectations. We'd like to get people involved who want to help build an interesting set list that is fun, diverse and at times a stretch from what we might usually do. All song recommendations are welcome, considered with open minds and honest responses are given. The only thing we're not interested in doing is the typical Classic Rock/Dive Bar stuff. There may be a song or 2 from there that we do because it's fun to play, but that if your looking to step into a band where you already know all the songs, this is probably not that band. Right now we've got stuff in the pipeline from the 60s to relatively current and from folk to punk to soul to rock and a couple that I'm not sure really where they fall categorically but they're great tunes! Nothing is set in stone. Originals are also not off the table. You: We need someone open to doing something different who is willing to put in the work to learn the songs and not have to stare into an iPad or lyrics sheets all night. We need that person to be an active, contributing part of the direction of the band and song choice, while considering everyone else's input. This is your chance to do those guilty-pleasure songs other bands might dismiss. Both of us do background vocals with not much interest in doing lead, so you'll have harmonies. You'll need to at least hold your own on guitar or keys. We want the freedom to play out songs or do instrumentals if desired and it's no fun for a singer-only to just stand there for 10 minutes. If you play well enough to not need another guitar, great! If you're more comfortable doing rhythm, that's great too! We'll add a guitarist. Obviously you have your own gear and are not too lazy to move it around if needed. Age-wise, we're are in our 40s and 50s, whatever that means to you. Keys players: We know you guys are rare, but there is always room for you if interested. Please reply with links to you playing live, preferably with a band. That's pretty much the audition. We're super easy-going but we've been at this long enough to be able to tell. No link, no response. Optional: List 5-9 songs you would want to do, whether you even know them or not. We are not trying to make a living or looking to gig every week or even every month. Just when we all agree we should. We're using the time right now to build and learn a set list, then we'll look to rehearse at a mutually agreed upon rehearsal studio in 4-5 weeks, provided no COVID surges. That should give us time to have a bunch of songs ready to polish. Thanks for your time. Now go practice!
