Description
It is with much sadness that I am looking to re home my three guinea pigs as I have changed jobs and do not have enough time to give them the proper attention that they require. The female of this grouping should be placed with another female- therefore if someone is interested in purchasing her separately I will allow it so long as she has another guinea pig to live with. For those who do not know, guinea pigs are social animals and grow depressed if kept alone.
The female: (Abyssinian) She has lived with other females however I no longer have them. She is skittish and shy but loves other females. She is a little over a year old and has had litters of babies before. She is in fine shape to be a breeding guinea pig, however, if that does not interest you she is fine to be a companion as well. With work she’d grow to warm up to you.
The males: (Telex & Peruvian) My boys must be kept together. They have very sweet personalities that blend well together. However, should you breed with them, trying to reintroduce them to each other becomes risky. The Peruvian has telex genes and has a sweet and aloof personality, he recently turned two years old. He’s very easy to socialize (and has been my secret favorite for this reason) and will hang out with you so as long as you offer him food. The telex is the more dominant pig and is very reactive- especially in comparison to his slower-paced companion. He’s a bit more skittish, however, he’s easily won over as he enjoys attention, especially once bonded with him. The telex is about a year and a half in age. An important piece of information on them is that they do suffer from painful gas as told to me by their veterinarian. While it doesn’t affect them severely, it does mean they tend to be picky eaters and I do struggle with keeping their weight where I would like it. You must be willing to feed them nutritious veggies on top of a Timothy hay and pellet diet.
