Description
Every once in a while a bitter young troll who can't get a gig here rants against the old hippy musical culture of Eugene. As a long time pro musician who loves Eugene and the musicians here, I pity you, my sad young friend. You won't find a more loving, giving, talented group of people to play with anywhere - if you take the time to stop hating. Your racist and ageist nonsense falls on deaf ears in the most liberal city in the USA, buddy. Here's a tough truth that a club owner told me when I was just starting out as a professional musician years ago: "Quality seeks its own level". So if you can't get a gig or find good people to play with, look in the mirror, it's obvious you aren't good enough to be paid to play in a decent club or headline a festival yet. Don't blame your lack of musical skills on the people who are good enough to be asked to play in nice places and have no problem finding others to jam with, no matter their age, color, sexual orientation, gender identity or musical style. I have learned much from musicians both older and younger than me, which is normal for real musicians. Quality seeks its own level. Let that soak in. Once you understand that, you will know what your problem really is.
