CAT NEEDS A FOREVER HOME

Description

Just before Christmas, this sweet girl cat followed me home. Though she was very apprehensive, it was very obvious that she wasn’t a feral cat; she was a cat who once had a home which either gotten lost or been abandoned and desperately wanted a home again. We started feeding her and she would stand at our front door, literally staring at the door from a couple of inches away, for hours on end. When we would open the door, we could tell she wanted in but was too scared to do so. As we gained her trust, we could tell that, besides the obvious wound which blinded her in one eye, she had lost a claw and a couple of fangs. She clearly hadn’t been prepared for the tough times she went through after losing her home. Despite those tough times, right from the beginning it was obvious she has a beautiful soul so we named her Nani (short for Naniloa, which is Hawaiian for Forever Beautiful). We spent a lot of time helping her learn to trust people again and, right from the start, even though she was starving, she would rather be touched than eat and wouldn’t touch her food until we went away. She is so gentle that, even when she would get scared and try to get away when we were working on getting her used to being held again, she never once scratched us, even though her claws at the time were very long and very sharp (she has quickly gotten comfortable with being picked up and held and lets us clip her claws). Since we have our own cats and wanted to make sure she was re-socialized through interaction with them, we took her to the vet and had her checked out, including feline leukemia (the results were clear so they proceeded with vaccination), her general health is good and they confirmed that she is spayed. We also gave her flea treatment just in case. It didn’t take long to gain her trust and she would start coming in the house and eating with our cats. She was easily socialized with them and never even once hissed at them. She is such a sweet cat and so deserving of a good home but we already have several cats and are moving back to the mainland. Please contact if you are interested in meeting her and able to give her a good home.
