With her big smile and wagging tail, Darla loves everyone she meets. She loves a good pajama party with friends, and a comfy bed, a lap to lay in, and a toy or two to carry around. Darla has received lots of love from all over the country, but she hasn’t found her perfect match yet. She’s not a fan of cats, as her interest in them becomes too much. She can be a little too much for other dogs as she doesn’t read their body language to back up and give them space. She just wants to say hi and play, but sometimes doesn’t understand when enough is enough. She needs someone who will work with her to learn boundaries and manners. She is so loved by all of our volunteers and we know th at she has built up quite the fan base on social media. We work hard to place each and every cat and dog in a forever home that we feel is the best fit for them and a place where they will flourish. Our process: If you are interested in Darla or any of our adorable adoptables, please fill out an adoption application from our website. If we feel it's a good match, we can make plans for a meet and greet at one of our twice-monthly trips to Chesapeake, or you can schedule a visit at the shelter. Visits to the shelter are by appointment only, as we are a volunteer-run rescue organization. All PAWS dogs are spayed/neutered, and current on the vaccinations appropriate for their age. Those who are confirmed over 4 months old or older will have their rabies vaccinations. Age permitting, dogs/puppies are tested for heartworm. All are treated with flea/tick prevention and given internal parasite preventative on a regular basis. All are microchipped (for their safety and the adopter's peace of mind) as part of the adoption fee.
