Women entrepreneurs are invited for an in-person session on how to start your business! Laura Butler will be discussing the different tax entities you should consider for starting your women owned business! Light snacks will be provided (Additional food & beverages available at your own cost).In person, social distancing eventThis is a Womenprenuers only event *Presented by: Women's Educational Resource Entity (WERE)ABOUT LAURA: Laura Butler started her career in the banking industry in 2002 with Wells Fargo. She held several management positions and became the Small Business Vice President in 2013. As SB VP, She was responsible for championing small business for Wells Fargo within the El Paso community and across the nation. As a Small Business Leader, Laura built a strong network of partnerships to empower entrepreneurs in many communities and worked with small business banking leaders to help them better serve their small business customers through internal and external processes. In 2014, she received the Access to Capital award for her leadership in developing the “Hablemos de Dinero” program, a partnership with the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce that provides free small business development workshops that help entrepreneurs start, manage and grow their business through business consulting, financial education and credit options. She has been recognized nationally by the U.S. Department of Commerce Minority Enterprise Development Center for providing small businesses with access to capital. She received awards from Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce for Corporate Hispanic Business Advocate of the year as well as Financial Services Champion by the SBA. Her work inspired chambers across the country to create programs that help provide the tools and resources for minority entrepreneurs to maintain a successful business. In 2020 Butler led a national team through the Paycheck Protection Program, a government relief fund created to financially support small businesses through the COVID – 19 Pandemic. She is currently providing consulting services and pursuing small business opportunities. Butler plans to announce her new business venture April 2021. Community: Butler has been active in the community with many organizations including ALPFA (Board President), Pioneers 21 (FKA The hub of human innovation board), Women’s Business Border Center Council (EPHCC), EPC Business Development board, AVANCE, EPC Women’s conference committee, participated in panel discussions with the EPHCC’s Dancing Backwards in High Heels, and United Way’s ENGAGE committee.
