PORT JEFFERSON, NY — A man was shot to death in Port Jefferson on Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk police said. The shooting happened on Main Street near West Broadway around 3:35 p.m., police said. Main Street near West Broadway is closed as Suffolk County Police Homicide detectives investigate the shooting. Drivers were suggested to avoid the area, as the closure could last for hours, police said. Main Street in Port Jefferson is closed in the area of West Broadway for a police investigation.
