Join the Durham Public Schools (DPS) Hub Farm to learn about the steps involved in planning a summer vegetable garden! Come enjoy an afternoon at the DPS Hub Farm to learn how to start your own summer vegetable garden. Topics covered will include selecting your growing site, how to start seeds, an overview of vegetables that grow well in the Piedmont of North Carolina, fertilizing and integrated pest management, and more! Be prepared for a hands-on portion of the afternoon, and leave with your own baby plants to get you started growing at home or at your school. This workshop will be taught entirely outdoors, following COVID-19 protocol, and mask-wearing is required. This workshop is eligible for 2 hours of NCEE Criteria II credit and is geared towards educators and adults interested in gardening.
