AACPS will then forward the winner to Gov. Larry Hogan who must officially make the appointment. The appointee will take office on July 1, replacing current Student Member Drake Smith of Meade High School. The new addition will serve until June 1, 2022. Anne Arundel County's student member is the only one in the nation with full voting rights. That means the student member is allowed in every conversation and has an equal vote to their elected colleagues. Like what you're reading?
