Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting 2 Pre-Teen Girls: Danbury PD

DANBURY, CT — Police have charged a man with multiple counts of sexual assault of two pre-teen girls that spanned several years. On Nov. 11, 2019, the Danbury Police Department received a complaint about Juan Perez-Barbahona, 33, sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl. The DPD's Special Victims Unit's initial attempts to locate Perez-Barbahona were unsuccessful. During the course of their investigation of alleged offenses that spanned several years of abuse, police identified an 11-year-old girl as an additional victim of abuse by Perez-Barbahona. Immigration and Customs Enforcement later confirmed that Perez-Barbahona had fled the country just days after the initial complaint had been made, according to police. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Perez-Barbahona in April 2020, and on March 10, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol notified the DPD they had detained the suspect in Corpus Christi, TX, based on the extraditable warrant Officers from the DPD traveled to Corpus Christi nine days later to assume custody of Perez-Barbahona and return him to Danbury, where he is currently being held on a court set bond of $250,000. Perez-Barbahona was charged with three counts of first-degree sexual assault, three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, and seven counts each of risk of injury to a minor/sexual contact and risk of injury to a minor/impairing the morals of a minor.
