Description

SAN DIEGO, CA — A new program from the San Diego Humane Society aims to help area children safely learn about animals from home during the coronavirus pandemic. The two new youth programs — Camp in a Box and the Critter Kids Club — are for children ages 7 to 11 and aim to help improve human-animal bonds and prevent cruelty and neglect. Students who sign up for Camp in a Box, which lasts from March 29 to April 2, will receive a package containing crafts and projects that they can complete on their own. Boxes cost $25 and must be picked up from SDHS's San Diego Campus. Kids can also sign up for Critter Kids Club, which lasts from April 6 to May 11. During the club, area children can join a virtual meetup from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. every Tuesday to learn about the humane society, local wildlife, humane law enforcement, pet body language, farm animals and more. Critter Kids Club costs $100. Residents can learn more about programs and sign up to attend them online.
