SAN DIEGO, CA — The first of the unaccompanied migrant children slated for a temporary stay at the San Diego Convention Center could arrive as early as this weekend, the San Diego Union Tribune reports.
Citing San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chairman Nathan Fletcher, the publication reported the convention center will likely host migrant children until early July.
Facilities like the new one in San Diego are designed as stop-gap shelters used to house minors until state-licensed facilities open, a process that can take between 9 months and a year.
