MORRISVILLE, PA — Pennsbury Manor in Morrisville is among the state-owned historic sites and museums set to reopen to the public beginning next month, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission announced. The reopenings will begin Friday, April 30, with reduced hours and limited capacity, the commission said Wednesday. Opened to the public in 1939, Pennsbury Manor is a reconstruction of William Penn's home along the Delaware River. It was built based on archeological finds, written descriptions and period research and is furnished with a collection of 17th Century antiques. Wednesday morning, the manor's website still listed it as closed. The historic commission said coronavirus safety precautions will be in place when its sites reopen. They include: Face masks required for all visitors, volunteers and staff when inside or near others on the groundsSocial distancing of six feet required from anyone not in your householdReduced capacity will be allowed in following Department of Health guidelinesVisitors must wash or sanitize hands as they enter the site's visitor center or house museumHigh-touch surfaces like door handles, push plates, railings, switches, counter tops and benches will be disinfected frequently. Restrooms will be cleaned and disinfected several times a dayNo events or gatherings, including exhibit openings and rentals, are scheduled currently to let staff get used to regular operations before having to host events, the commission said. School groups will be allowed back in the fall.
