Supervisor: Program Manager Employment Status: Part-time June 1, 2021 becoming full-time Jan. 2022 Position summary: The Apex Leadership and Empowerment Specialist (LES)is a part-time, 24-hour per week position reporting directly to the Program Manager. The LES serves to support the facilitation of Apex LEAD and Trek2Connect programs as directed by the program design and objectives. Apex LEAD actively connects high school youth to their community in ways that advance the youth’s opportunity for growth, understanding and success. The LES co-facilitates LEAD trainings, serves to connect youth with professional mentors and community leaders and creates opportunities for peer mentorships to further the youth’s aspirations. Trek2Connect is a grade based cohort model focused on delivering 5 experiential learning components; outdoor skills, environmental stewardship, cultural competency, career exploration and community service to youth grades 7-12. The LES helps provide comprehensive mentoring-based programming that increases resiliency, expands participant outlook and potential, creates empathy and active contribution. The LES will assist in facilitating theTrek2Connect and LEAD programming for each cohort as well as peripheral programming and will follow the framework developed for the program.
