Here's How Many Iredell County Residents Have Received Shots

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — Although the coronavirus vaccine has been in limited supply in North Carolina, vaccination efforts in Iredell County have administered at least one dose to nearly 18 percent of the county, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. As of Tuesday, at least 31,739 Iredell County residents had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 22,237 people — or about 12 percent of the county's adult population — had been fully vaccinated. The news comes as county health officials reported at least 29 new COVID-19 cases in Iredell Tuesday, increasing the county's tally of known cases to 17,161. As of March 23, a dozen county residents were hospitalized for coronavirus, and 210 county resident deaths had been blamed on the virus. Iredell County is currently administering vaccine to Groups 1, 2 and 3, along with medically at-risk individuals in Group 4, which means those 65 years old and older, medical workers, frontline essential workers and anyone who has an increased medical risk of COVID-19 illness are eligible to receive a vaccine. "The good news is there will be enough vaccine for everyone to get their shot as it becomes available," ICHD said in a statement Tuesday. "Just visit the link again later to make an appointment as more future COVID-19 vaccine clinics become available."
