Job Description The shipping/loading dock area in the nursery is where all plant material that is being shipped is organized, groomed, labeled, racked, and staged to be loaded into trucks. During the spring busy season (4/15-7/1) it is a bustling place, but we do typically ship from April through November. The shipping coordinator must direct this process and its staff with an eye for order accuracy, quality, and efficiency. Job Duties: Responsibilities include but are not limited to - · Manage a crew, fluctuating in number, from 3-20 people, depending on season and workload, to complete the work of the department, safely and efficiently. · Ensure that orders are racked, tagged, labeled, and staged appropriately. · Ensure quality of plants for delivery and pick up. · Ensure all orders are adequately watered. · Complete and submit any pertinent paperwork in a thorough and timely fashion. · Communicate with designated staff members when returns need to be restocked in the beds. · Keep the loading dock/staging area organized, clean, and safe. · Assist in any other department or area of the nursery as needed. Requirements- · A positive attitude · A working knowledge of perennial plants, horticulture, or landscaping · Management experience · Attention to detail · Speed and accuracy · Strong organizational skills · Ability to handle a busy work environment and manage shifting priorities · Ability to communicate effectively with team members · Willing to stay late to finish the job when necessary · Willing to work outside in all kinds of weather Physical Requirements · Repetitive lifting of 25 lbs. from ground to shoulder height · Ability to stand, walk, and bend, for extended periods of time Job Type: Full-time Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
