BASIC PURPOSE OF THE BLENDING OPERATOR: The primary responsibility of the Blending Operator is to blend and pack Kerry Lakeland’s products ensuring they meet food safety and food quality requirements while meeting the customers’ needs. The Blending Operator works closely with other departments, Quality, Safety, Maintenance, Warehouse and Materials Management throughout the day. BASIC REQUIRMENTS: • Must be 18 years or older • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Must be able to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in the English language. • Excellent organizational and planning skills needed to maximize job efficiency. • Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds at least 40 feet. • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations (i.e. percentages, fractions, etc.). • Must be able to operate and read scales in pounds, grams and kilograms. • Must be able to follow good manufacturing practices, work safely and achieve results in a team environment. • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. • Must be able to withstand heights of 40 feet or more and must have mobility in all areas of the plant including confined spaces. • Must be able to punctual and meet expectations for regular attendance. • Must have attention to detail and be able to perform several tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment. • Must be able to frequently fill and empty 55-gallon drums, 5 and 7 gallon pails, and other containers. • Must understand basic physical properties of raw materials and intermediates used. • Must be able to safely operate a forklift and be able to attend forklift training course. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Attend all Safety, Health and Environmental Training as required, and participate in Kerry’s Eye for Safety, Quality and Environmental Programs. • Participate in on-the-job training and gain knowledge of blending procedures. • Read, understand, and follow manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures and special instructions. • Operate blending and packaging equipment, including, but not limited to scales, pumps, mixers, valves, drum and pail fillers, filter presses and centrifuge. • Responsible for compounding liquid batches accurately and timely. • Follow and monitor all HACCP control points and complete documentation for required quality checks. • Responsible for successfully completing inventory transactions in SAP inventory system. • Understand basic physical properties of ingredients used in blending and packaging. • Follow supervisors’ instructions and be open to providing and receiving feedback for improvement. • Prepare product for shipment in accordance with customer requirements. • Understand all Job Safety Hazards and comply with all department and plant Safety, GMP, Sanitation, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures. • Responsible for operating and monitoring multiple pieces of equipment at a time. • Keep accurate and detailed records and complete required logs. • Maintain timely completion of tasks to ensure high standards for customer service. • Must be willing and flexible to work other shifts to meet the business needs. • Other duties as assigned.
