Job Title: Safety Officer Department: Commercial Construction / Single Family Homes Reports to: Chief Construction Officer and Director of Operations Positions Supervised: None Status: Salaried Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Classification: Exempt ________________________________________ Position Summary: This position works with employees of Chinburg Builders, Inc. to administer, direct, and implement compliance with corporate safety and health policies and procedures. This position is responsible for the overall safety procedures on a project-specific level or as assigned to multiple project sites and managed properties within our region. Primary Essential Responsibilities: Safety Responsibilities: o Assist in overseeing, managing, and documenting job site safety activities including OSHA safety compliance. o Help direct field personnel according to the project safety plan and Chinburg supervisory principles. o Communicate safety issues, events, performance, and safety progress to the Project Manager and Superintendent. o Report any problems promptly to the Project Manager to facilitate the most cost-effective solutions. o Establish effective working relationships with clients and the Chinburg team members. o Ensure that all subcontractors participate in a safety pre-construction meeting prior to starting work on the project. o Ensure that all subcontractors have a full set of MSD sheets on the project, as well as their site-specific safety plans o Review the project safety performance as often as possible to ensure that all activities are being performed in accordance with all OSHA and governing requirements and the project site specific safety plan. o Review safety reports and injury data to assess safety performance on assigned projects. o Ensure project(s) are budgeted & staffed appropriately to support safety programs. o Communicate clear expectations for safety to project teams. o Perform safety inspections and write a project review for the project team to review and adhere to. o Help ensure subcontractors are administering the required “toolbox talks” o Adhere to all Chinburg Safety program requirements. • Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: o Knowledge and Understanding of General Construction Industry Safety Standards o Knowledge of OSHA Regulations to determine compliance. Education and Experience Requirements: o OSHA 10 o Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Safety and Occupational Health experience. Other Essential Requirements: • Attendance is mandatory. • Ability to show respect in the workplace, cooperation, and interaction with customers, vendors, co-workers, and the public. • Comply with all Personnel Policies. • Ability to review and acknowledge understanding of and compliance with Chinburg Builders, Inc. Code of Safety Practices. • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record. • Ability to complete training as required by the company.
