Hablamos Español Falamos Portugues How it works? We would like to rent a small spot near your window to place a tiny hotspot device to provide internet to IoT devices in your community. We call this The People’s Network Program. What is it? The hotspot device (approx. 6” x 6”) connects to your internet to provide a connection to Internet of Things (IoT) devices throughout your community which use a much lower frequency signal. Devices that use the network include devices for COVID-19 contact tracking, pet location monitoring, agriculture monitoring such as irrigation automation, micromobility transportation such as ebikes, scooters, and skateboards, air quality monitoring, building and asset monitoring such water meters, and parking systems. The devices uses very little data, approximately 1-5kb/s, about the size of a long text message. It will not have an impact to your internet connection. Additionally, there is nearly zero power cost. The hotspot uses roughly 5W at peak which is less than a standard LED light bulb. In the average US state, the total power cost of running a hotspot for a full year is about the same as big Starbucks coffee - roughly $5 per year. Additionally, the device has no external sensors such as microphones or cameras that could present a privacy or security risk. About Us: Casa Architecture and Construction, LLC (Casa) was recently incorporated by two minority Boston Architectural College Alumni with the goal of eliminating the inherent communication gap between architecture (design) and construction. In 2020, to further Casa’s mission of improving the built environment, Casa decided to join in helping create the world's first People’s Network. To achieve this, Casa created The People’s Network Program.
