Description

More Green Columbus' Earth Day Volunteering with CGB and Recreation & Parks to prepare the Antrim Pollinator Garden for the growing season! Join Columbus Gives Back and Columbus Recreation & Parks to help prepare the Antrim Pollinator Garden for the growing season! This area serves as important pollinator habitat and education space for summer camps. We will weed, plant, and clean up any litter around the area. Since our Columbus Gives Back group will not be the only group at this project: To help manage volunteer sizes, we ask that you also sign up at Earth Day Columbus. When: Sunday, April 18, 1pm - 3pm Event Leaders: [email protected] Where: Antrim Park Shelter House, 5800 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43085 What to Wear: Wear sturdy clothing, bring gloves if you have them, and plan to follow health dept. guidance (masks, social distance) for COVID safety. We will have trash bags, tools and some gloves/vests. COVID-19 Precautions: Due to the current stay-at-home advisory in place in Franklin county, Columbus Gives Back is limiting the number/type of events on our calendar through the end of the year. All Columbus Gives Back volunteers are required to wear face masks and observe social distancing as appropriate to complete volunteer tasks. Volunteers who are sick, especially with fever or the growing number of Covid-19 symptoms, should stay home. We highly recommend that our volunteers wash their hands, use hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of the event, and/or wear gloves. We will follow whatever safety policy our nonprofit partners have in addition to the safety precautions listed above. Any volunteers determined to neglect these precautions and put other volunteers or the people we serve at risk will be dismissed from the event. In an effort to keep our volunteers, event leaders, and non-profit partners safe we ask that each volunteer or event leader sign up for no more than one event in a seven-day period, in order to limit the number of individuals you come into contact with if you are exposed to Covid-19. If you were exposed before or test positive after having participated in a CGB event, please contact the event leader or reach out to [email protected] so that we can best support contact tracing efforts. About Green Columbus: Building on the success of the first Earth Day Columbus in 2007, Green Columbus has engaged the Central Ohio community to contribute more than 100,000 hours of green citizen service. Earth Day Columbus is growing every year and is a staple in community engagement and beautification for Columbus. About Columbus Recreation & Parks: On July 15th, 1910 the City Recreation Department was established to enrich Columbus by finding ways to make streets, alleys, boulevards, parks and public grounds more beautiful. On January 2nd, 1972 the City Recreation Department merged with the Division of Forestry and Parks to become the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department. We have grown from six to nearly 400 parks on 13,500+ acres, have established 29 community centers, five athletic complexes, six golf courses, 230 miles of regional trails, six splash pads and interactive fountains, eight outdoor pools and an indoor aquatic center, nineteen nature preserves, three reservoirs, five dog parks, a skate park and a range of programs for toddlers to seniors. About Columbus Gives Back: Columbus Gives Back coordinates group volunteer events with local non-profits, organizes philanthropic happy hours to raise support and awareness for our non-profit partners, and participates in other philanthropic events while emphasizing our social twist: to have fun with volunteers new and old during and after events in the hopes of creating a culture of community engagement amongst our target audience of young professionals. #SocialTwist: Social Twists have been suspended until further notice, but typically we will also encourage volunteers to join us afterwards for food and drinks to better get to know the other cool folks in our group! Rather we encourage each of our volunteers to support local business during this time.
