Volunteers will prepare a portion of the meal to drop off Thanks for your interest in our Trail Timeout Project with Denver Children's Home.  ABOUT DCH: Denver Children’s Home provides a comprehensive therapeutic and educational continuum of care for our region’s abused, neglected and traumatized children and their families with mental health issues. DCH offers prevention, intervention, and treatment programs grounded in trauma-informed care and the latest in brain-development research. ABOUT TRAIL TIMEOUT PROGRAM WITH DCH: This is our fourth year volunteering. The kids and staff are so excited for our generosity and time for the meal we provide. Plan: Sunday May 2nd 4:30 - 4:45 p.m. - Arrive at DCH, unload, and buzz the front door to drop off your contribution. As a group we are preparing hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, sides, and drinks. (Feeding 35-40 children & staff) and dividing up meal amongst ourselves.   5:00 p.m. - Kids arrive in cafeteria  You are welcome to bring juice, tea and soda. Avoid caffeinated drinks (no Mtn. Dew, Dr. Pepper, etc.) and please bring drinks in bottles so they can be easily poured into cups.  DCH has standard condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo), but always appreciate having more. If there are other condiments that are needed for your meal, please bring them. If unable to accommodate special meals, please let us know in advance so we may plan alternative meals for those kids.-Bell peppers, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, 3 lactose intolerant kids, panko bread crumbs,and 1 sugar-free kid (use “diet” products with no sugar)- Additional allergies during school day (include above allergies): red food dye, pineapple, peanuts,grapes, mint, gluten free diet, 1 lactose intolerant Volunteer Guidelines: - Typically we volunteer in person, due to COVID-19 we are dropping off our prepared food in lieu of preparing the food at the facility and visiting with the kids. We hope to resume in the future!
