Description
My buddy is organizing his annual music festival. Basically, it's a Grateful Dead Tribal Gathering. It's three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and takes place on his ranch in the Sierra Foothills. The ranch is at about 2,800' elevation, and if the weather cooperates, the evenings are magical. There are no tickets available. It's a private festival and you have to know where to go and when to be there. I'll be BBQ-ing pork ribs for the crowd all day Saturday and most of Sunday. I will also be fixing some other foods as well (we have some vegetarian options). Attendance is usually around 200 people. The bands play Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Ten or twelve bands are typical for this event. Two to Four kegs is also typical. The traditional headline act has been "Dead Winter Carpenters" - you can find them on YouTube. The outdoor kitchen is rustic: there's a picnic table, some cupboards, a propane-powered refrigerator, a sink, some BBQs and smokers, a cast iron propane stove and a fire pit. There's electricity and good well water. The producer brings in a truckload of portable toilets, but there are no showers. I've got space near the outdoor kitchen for some tents. I'll bring my own and my friends will bring three or four others. If you go, you should plan on bringing your sleeping bag and pillow. I want help setting up on Friday (from noon on), occasional help with BBQ-ing and cooking other foods on Saturday and Sunday, as well as cleaning up, 'tearing down' and packing up on Sunday. Help driving the pick-up truck up there and back would be appreciated, but isn't necessary. I expect to leave early Friday morning and return late on Sunday; if I get too tired on Sunday, I may delay returning until Monday afternoon. In exchange, I offer transportation to and from, a safe, groovy trip while you're there and the opportunity to dance to the music (at least when you aren't helping in the kitchen). It's good food, good music and good people. Remember: "When you're a Spinner, the music never stops!"
