Come be a part of a great team!  Blankstein Enterprises, Inc., a property management company, is in need of an experienced maintenance technician. The Apartment Maintenance Technician's main responsibilities are to maintain, repair, or replace plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling units, and appliances in apartments and public areas within the company's buildings and will perform other duties as assigned. Essential Duties: PLUMBING REPAIRS AND INSTALLATION:  Perform drain cleaning, fixture replacement and re-trap drains. Install copper, galvanized, black iron, and PVC piping. ELECTRICAL REPAIRS AND INSTALLATION:  Troubleshoot entrance panels, fuses,    circuit breakers, switches, outlets, and lamps.  Add circuits and outlets.  Install     outlets, switches, lamps, new wiring, conduit or wire mold for new circuits and   outlets. HEATING REPAIRS AND INSTALLATION:  Repair forced air heating units, low   pressure steam and hot water boiler systems and piping.  Replace valves, traps, zone valves and thermostats.  Re-pipe steam lines and returns. COOLING UNITS:  Clean repair, replace or install air conditioning units. EMERGENCY REPAIRS:  Perform emergency repairs on a 24 hour on-call basis in weekly rotations with other Apartment Maintenance persons.  These repairs may include stabilizing heating, cooling and electrical problems, clogged drains or toilets, gas odors, or running water from burst pipes or from floor(s) above. MATERIAL HANDLING:  Determine needs for jobs, complete material list, order, and pickup in an efficient manner.  Return unused materials to Warehouse Clerk for         efficient billing purposes when job completed. CLEAN-UP:  Remove debris items including personal items, dust, paint chips, and material scraps.  Dust and vacuum occupied and rent-ready apartments.  Clean      bathroom of rent-ready apartments if used.  APPLIANCES:  Check working condition of refrigerators, dishwashers, and gas and electric ranges. WORK INDEPENDENTLY:  Work without direct supervision and be able to complete tasks thoroughly, neatly and to tenant and company satisfaction. COMPANY REPRESENTATION: Represent the company with positive customer satisfaction when dealing with tenants and co-workers. Satisfactory initial completion of job required to prevent call-backs, poor tenant relations, and rescheduling. Abilities:  Be semi-skilled in plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general building maintenance. Be able to successfully troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general building maintenance problems. Have the knowledge to safely operate hand and power tools associated with duties. Read, write and verbally communicate in English. Accurately calculate addition and subtraction. Have knowledge of boilers, energy management controls, and low and high voltage electrical systems. Work Schedule: Work full time, weekdays, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, and be available for occasional overtime work as needed, including being on-call on a rotating basis. Equipment: Have own hand and power tools necessary to perform essential functions. Have own transportation (car/truck/van) with adequate room to transport tools and supplies. Physical Requirements: Stand and kneel for extended periods of time. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Push and pull up to 100 lbs. Be able to climb up ladders and work from for extended periods of time Be able to kneel, crawl, or lay on back to reach underneath structures for repair. We are a drug free company and perform a full background screening.  Must be able to pass a drug screen.
