MARLBOROUGH, MA — Following a successful food drive during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, the Marlborough Democratic City Committee (MDCC) is planning a second drive this week. The Saturday drive will benefit the Community Cupboard and will be one of four the MDCC drives this year. The committee plans to hold four drives each year for the foreseeable future. "Thanks to the generosity of our residents, the first effort brought in more than a ton of food and personal care items, along with more than $500 in gift cards for the Community Cupboard," MDCC Chair Dan Caruso said in a news release. "The need is still great, so we're asking the community to step up again and help our neighbors in need." For Saturday's drive, the MDCC is seeking items like canned food, nonperishable snack foods, hot and cold cereals, condiments and basics like sugar and cooking oil. The drive will also accept items for child care like diapers and baby wipes. The items will be delivered to the Community Cupboard by March 30. To participate, drop off items at the Kane School, 520 Farm Road, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Contact MDCC members Pam McNair or Teria Ellis by email [email protected] or [email protected]. You can also call McNair at 508-294-5481.
