WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield police say that they charged a man with heroin possession and two other charges after he allegedly left his wallet at a store along with "eight folds of heroin bundled together with a rubber band." Police say Anthony Scatturo, 40, of Westfield was charged with possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, heroin; possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic needle without prescription. Police said that Officer Natale responded around 8:34 p.m. on March 15 to a business on South Avenue West in response to a 911 call from employees. The caller stated that a customer had entered the store and during the process of attempting to purchase an item, left behind his wallet and the other items. Sgt. Bruno located the suspect walking on West South Avenue. "A further investigation determined him to be in possession of an additional fold of heroin, one glass pipe with CDS residue, and one hypodermic needle," police say. He was placed under arrest by Officers DiBella and Natale, and transported to Westfield Police Headquarters. He was processed and released on a complaint-summons with a mandatory Union County Superior court date later this month. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Got news?
