Description

League of Women Voters of Naperville is committed to being impartial election observers to guarantee that your elections are accurate, secure, and transparent. So today we drove down to Joliet, where the Will County Clerk's Office was testing voting tabulators. Earlier, the Will County Elections Team performed internal Logic and Accuracy (L&A) tests on the equipment. Each office that is up for election on April 6 was tested during the Public Test. The County Clerk's Elections team fed the ballots into the same M-100 tabulators that will be used on Election Day. The staff tested a total of 37 precincts that were randomly selected by the Illinois State Board of Elections. Once all ballots were run through the machines, staff members ran the totals tapes. The chairpersons from the local Democratic and Republican Central Committees then compared the new tape and the tape from the L&A testing to make sure all numbers matched. Once all precincts are verified, the County Clerk's office is required to file a sealed copy of each tested program with the Illinois State Board of Elections. The State Board of Elections will confirm that all necessary steps were met and followed according to the law. On April 1, League of Women Voters of Naperville will be heading up to Wheaton to observe the public testing of DuPage County election equipment.
